NEXT STEPS – DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Both Auckland City Council and Manukau City Council approved proceeding with the Auckland-Manukau Eastern Transport Initiative (AMETI) in July 2007.
Some specific parts of the project will go to focused consultation later this year (see Consultation page).
The following actions will commence:

2007:
- Apply to Land Transport New Zealand (LTNZ) for funding for design and consenting processes.
- Commence negotiation with those who wish to sell property that is needed by the project.
- Investigate, consult as required, and confirm outstanding project elements in the south including Ti Rakau Drive between Gossamer and Trugood Drives.
2008 to 2010:
- Progress more detailed design and planning for all parts of the project.
- Additional targeted community consultation to support resource consent and notice of requirement processes.
- Lodge Notices of Requirement under the Resource Management Act (including statutory consultation).
- Progress the funding strategy, including exploring alternative funding options such as tolling.
2012 to 2016:
- Call for tenders for construction of the northern projects.
- Construction of bus lanes and new street network begins
2016 to 2020:
- Progress the detailed design and construction for the remainder of the project.
